Anette Freytag

Anette Freytag

Since 1997 the art historian Anette Freytag has focused on the cultural history of the garden. Since 2005 she is assistant lecturer at the TheorieLab, Department of Landscape Architecture (chaired by Christophe Girot), ETH Zurich, and is currently writing her dissertation on the Swiss landscape architect Dieter Kienast. Freytag was previously principal of ville.jardin.paysage in Brussels. She studied in Vienna, Berlin and Paris.

Vladimir Sitta

Vladimir Sitta

Vladimir Sitta has worked as landscape architect in Australia since 1981. He established his firm Terragram in 1986, and in 1998 a second firm, with Richard Weller, named Room 4.1.3. Following his studies in Brno he gained practical experience in the former Czechoslovakia (where he was born) and in Germany. In its tenpart series „New Gardens“, Arte, a cultural broadcaster, portrayed his work under the title „The Garden as Stage“.

Ken Smith

Ken Smith

Ken Smith is principal of Ken Smith Landscape Architect in New York. He studied at the Graduate School of Design, Harvard University, and teaches at a number of universities. Over the course of his twenty-year career he has been involved in numerous teams. Smith's work encompasses the symbolic power of landscape and outdoor space, as well as their interpretation as works of art.

Ryoko Ueyama

Ryoko Ueyama

Ryoko Ueyama, a landscape architect, founded her firm Ryoko Ueyama Landscape Design Studio in Tokyo in 1982. From 1998 to 2005 she taught at the Nagaoka Institute of Design. In 1978 she completed the graduate program in landscape architecture at UC Berkeley. She worked until 1982 for C.H.N.M.B. Associates (formerly Lawrence Halprin & Associates) in San Francisco. Aspects of Japanese philosophy play a role in her work.

Günter Vogt

Günther Vogt

Günther Vogt is principal of Vogt Landscape Architects in Zurich, which was formed in 2000, springing from the office Kienast Vogt Partner. In 2002 he founded a branch in Munich. Since 2005 he is professor at the Department of Landscape Architecture at the ETH Zurich. His projects place emphasis on the specificity of a particular place, as well as the interdisciplinary dialogue with architects, artists and other specialists.
